"The background throughout this site is a close-up of one of my Silver Lace Wyandotte Chicken's wings. I like utilizing textures and interesting patterns in my work. I find it particularly satisfying to look at the world close up. The smallest unassuming details often provide a new perspective. "
TONYA DALHAUS
Welcome to my portfolio. Here you'll find a selection of my work from instructional content creation and design, visual aides, and digital media, to experimental passion projects. I thrive on creative challenges, problem-solving, and onboarding new technologies.
As a former stand-up comedian, my work in Boston as Program Manager for a homeless shelter, serving over 150 families, made me well acquainted with managing conflict and communication with compassion, empathy, and when needed, humor. I like to tap into those experiences when teaching public speaking, facilitation, and training to graduate students at the University of Denver.
My extensive experience and knowledge provides expertise in both verbal and non-verbal communication and received my Micro Expression Practitioner’s Certification through the Center for Body Language. In response to the many recent tragic mass shootings, I have used my skillsets to study and speak on using non-verbal cues to identify potential acts of violence.
In addition to my professional pursuits, I am passionate about writing, creating digital photography, mixed media, and social media content. I studied and won awards in videography and photography as an undergraduate and like to apply those skills in my profession.
Most recently I wrote, illustrated and published my first book
Botl and Hattie Share!, a picture book, which can be found on both Amazon and Barnes and Noble Press.
